A reader has asked for help in identifying people in some old reel footage of Plassey fishermen seen below which is believed to be taken in the 1940’s.
The email explains,
“I recently uncovered this old video footage on reels. It contains footage of fishermen up Plassey fishing in the 1940’s . I would like to pass the video to the families of the people in it but their identities are unknown to me except for one. His name is Eamon (beefy) Madden.”…
It is taken aroung 1947?, The quality for the time is excellent . Please forward any possible names of the people and location footage to my email. Also if anyone can identify the manor house please do.
Any information anyone has relating to the identities of the people in this fascinating footage should be forwarded on to plasseyriver@gmail.com and any help is appreciated.

Great to see some people wanting to share such a brillant piece of footage . Sorry i don’t know anyone in it but i have forwarded it to my relations in America whom were from the parish and used to fish in plassey in the 40’s . Hopefully then i might get some names. This should be featured in the limerick leader, maybe the guy Curtin ? i think his name is would be able to throw some light on it.
Thanks for sharing the memories
