Gardai are questioning a man in relation to the murder of James Cronin who was shot dead in 2008.
The body of 20 year old James Cronin was found buried in a shallow grave on waste ground close to the city on April 7th 2008. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
A 24 year old man was arrested this morning in Limerick as part of the ongoing investigation into the brutal killing. He was arrested on the south side of the city and Gardai say he is being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act at Roxboro Garda station.
Under this legislation he can be held for up to 7 days.

A second person has now been arrested in relation to the murder.
Gardai have confirmed a 22 year old man was arrested Wednesday, just as the period of detention was extended for a 24 year old who was arrested in relation to the murder on Tuesday.
The second arrest was made in Limerick City.

Both men have been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to their arrests.
