An elderly man has died after he was struck and killed in a road accident in the city Sunday afternoon.
Gardai are investigating the incident in which a 61 year old pedestrian was struck by a car on the Roxboro Road around 2pm in the afternoon. Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the victim was rushed to the Regional Hospital however he died a short time after.
Garda forensic collision investigators carried out technical examinations of the scene and the road has since reopened.
