Two men arrested over three Limerick murders

Gardai investigating three murders in Limerick have arrested two men at Wheatfield Prison in Dublin.

The two men aged 31 and 27, were arrested in their cells early Wednesday morning in connection with the murders of James Cronin, Shane Geoghegan and Roy Collins.

The body of 20 year old James Cronin was found buried in a shallow grave on waste ground close to the city on April 7th 2008; He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. 28 year old Shane Geoghegan was shot dead not far from his home in the Kilteragh housing estate in the early hours of November 9th 2008.

25 year old Roy Collins was shot at his business in the Roxboro Shopping Centre on April 9th of this year.

Both men detained Wednesday are being held at Lucan Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Both men have been released without charge.

Meanwhile two more men have been arrested as part of the investigations. They were taken from their cells in Wheatfield and Limerick prisons on Thursday and are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

    They arrested a third as well. Isn’t it gas….released without charge. Released back into prison more like. A complete waste of time. I won’t even mention the the naked interview! These guys are making a skit of the judical system. Then again having said that…what judicial system! It’s a frigging joke.
