Three people have been arrested by Police in Kenya investigating the murder of Limerick missionary Fr Jeremiah Roche, according to reports in a national newspaper Wednesday.
“One of the three [arrested] is understood to have been involved in previous violent robberies”, The Irish Examiner reported. The report does not say when or where the men were detained.
Fr Jeremiah Roche, a member of the Kiltegan Fathers and a native of Athea in West Limerick, had been working as a missionary in Kenya since 1968. He was murdered during a robbery at his home in Kericho last week.
Funeral details have been announced and it’s expected the body of the 68 year old will be flown to Ireland on Saturday. Waking will take place at his sister Nora Cunningham’s residence on the Glin Road, Athea later that evening.
Requiem Mass at St. Bartholomew’s Church Athea takes place from 2pm on Sunday with burial afterwards at Holy Cross Cemetery, Athea.

“The three suspects are assisting us with our investigation to know the motive of the murder and (we are) still pursuing other suspects.We have not managed to recover any of the stolen items,” a senior police commander told the Reuters news agency.
